As you probably know, The Breakdown has been taking a short break, while I rode a bicycle across Australia. I’ve now returned! I covered 4,112km in 43 days of riding over 59 days total. It was the most epic adventure ever.
Along the way I kept an entertaining journal, detailing everything from the trip itself, to past travel stories, to a little bit of life philosophy. For a little while longer it is up on the internet as a blog website, which you can check out if you’re interested at:

Each day was a chapter, and each chapter had a song of the day. Here is the soundtrack to the adventure to end most adventures. You’ll be as surprised as I was, that I didn’t listen to any new music on the whole journey. I had a real chance to take stock of the music I’ve listened to and loved over the past 4 or so years. It was so hard to choose these songs, there was a list as long as my arm of songs that just missed the cut. You may be flabbergasted to see there is no Foals, no Yeasayer and no Alt-j. I had to run with songs that were ear-worms for some days, others that suited the mood of the day, or ones that just simply couldn’t miss out. This could be the only non-new-music playlist I will put out.
And it is fucking awesome. I’ve set it up like a good old fashioned mix tape, with Side A and Side B. Perfect for travelling.
