Hello there musically inclined friends and top marks for finding your way to the sweetest collection of new indie tunes.
This episode finds us indulging in tasters of new material from a few old favourites along with more off some great recent albums I have been introducing you to over recent weeks.
A new-to-me artist that is rocking worlds at the mo is When Saints Go Machine. They are a 4 piece from Denmark and their album Infinity Pool is gangst. A dense foreboding yet minimalist electro musical style, combined with a haunting falsetto vocalist make for an album that hella needs to be heard.
More goodness is included from recent favourite albums by CHVRCHES, Snakadaktal and Black Light Dinner Party.
A Breakdown old fave from back in the WMN.fm live broadcast days in the form of Work Drugs is back. The kings of “smooth-fi” have delivered another unmistakable ditty that continues their catchy original sound. The beautiful voice and soft songwriting of London Grammar are back too. They are joined by the amazing ODESZA, who I was lucky enough to catch live in Vancouver a few months ago. Bringing their equally unmistakable deep rolling bassy electro sounds back, following their stunning debut Summers Gone, I am excited for any new releases they have on the horizon.
One of my favourite bands of, well, ever, Cut Copy, have returned with new material. While I appreciated the musical and songwriting talent inherent in their most recent release, Zonoscope, it marked a slight departure from the style that made me love them in the beginning. Let Me Show You, from the forthcoming album Free Your Mind, continues in this direction. It is still a very good song, nonetheless.
Thanks to Easy Lover, hailing from my favourite indie music breeding ground of Brooklyn, USA, for supplying me with a couple of their new songs. The End Of Our Deceit has me toe tappin’, and wondering if I’ve stumbled into the final scene of an epic dance movie set in the 80’s!
Enjoy the new music :)
