Welcome to yet another winning edition of The Breakdown. Some fantastic brand new tracks are featured in this episode.
The two bands that have been dominating my iPod of late are The Lumineers and Lord Huron. A touch of bluegrass alt-country never hurt anyone, and these two are certainly not hurting me.
Albums by Menomena and Husky are still popping up a lot and are both highly recommended. Intothenorthsea is also a young English band that are winning me over with their originality and ground-breaking style of songwriting.
I have also in the last week or so found some sweet remixes of songs by old favourites Chromatics and Little Dragon. They are chilled out and super rad. Also while listening to one of my favourite blog sites I heard a really cool song, so went searching for it, only to find out that the artist, Asta, is from my hometown of Hobart, Tasmania. What a trip! Very cool song by a very young up-and-comer.
Top standout tracks that should be particularly listened to are ones by Gemini Club and Flashlights, the latter of which have a very cool video up on YouTube.
Thrown in for a bit of fun at the end is a very swish cover of Cindi Lauper‘s old hit, Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
