This was my last episode in Whistler and last live show for the year. It was done outside the Creekside Market in aid of a food drive for the Whistler Food Bank, a worthy cause, if not for all the lazy stoner Quebecois it attracts… :P
Anyway, Whistler socio-economic groups aside, I played some incredible tracks in this set, most notably a couple from one Mr. Pretty Lights. This man is an artist that if you have not experienced as of yet, hoo-wee, strap in for a life-altering year of discovery… his back catalogue is offered for download on his site (check my “links” page – go on, please make a donation if you download anything, keep moments like these happening). Anyway, I found a remix of his incredible Finally Moving track, done by a little known producer named Shane Martz – it adds a deep bass and dubstep elements which I loved. He has also remixed the famous Country Roads by John Denver – it is without doubt the coolest version of this song yet, and ever.
There are also tracks from the awesome new album Making Mirrors by Gotye, the opening track from Canada’s own Tokyo Police Club‘s latest album Champion (which is epic might I add), glitch DJ The Polish Ambassador, another amazing seminal Brooklyn act inThe Rapture and an old one from Sweden’s masters of indie pop, Peter, Bjorn and John.
This was a big one, but its worth it…
